Founded in 1990, Bistar Limited began with a singular mission. We set out to deliver robust engineering and critical infrastructure solutions across Nigeria. What started as a dedicated technical execution firm has now evolved significantly. Today, we operate as a fully integrated master contractor recognized for quality, engineering discipline, and long-term asset performance.
Our operations seamlessly link complex oil and gas services with civil engineering. In addition, we specialize in industrial water infrastructure and environmental remediation. We actively unify design, global procurement networks, and precision workshop fabrication. Consequently, we are able to meet stringent international standards. Meet the founder
Engr. Dr. Maxwell C. Ugwu is the Founder and Chairman of BISTAR LIMITED, bringing decades of leadership, engineering expertise, and industry experience to the company. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in 1978, followed by a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1979. In 1982, he obtained a Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Ugwu has contributed significantly to the construction and engineering industry through research and technical papers focused on project time scheduling, productivity in construction, and bitumen blending for optimal operational efficiency. He began his professional journey with Unipetrol Nigeria Plc in 1982, where he served for over a decade, rising from the position of Field Engineer to Divisional Operations Manager. During his tenure, he successfully supervised several major projects, including the Unipetrol Bitumen Plant in Port Harcourt and the company’s pioneering high-rise office complex.
Driven by a vision to build a company rooted in excellence, innovation, and professionalism, he later founded BISTAR LIMITED, where he continues to provide strategic leadership and direction. Under his guidance, BISTAR LIMITED remains committed to delivering quality, integrity, and engineering excellence across every project and service.
